Now, Carl, tell us about Eclipse.

Eclipse takes place over twenty years in the future, when most of the former United States has fallen under the grip of a  ruthless totalitarian dictatorship. Communications and movements are monitored, but there is a resistance movement. The two main characters are freedom fighters in Nemesis.

One of the Nemesis leaders (our hero) developed a virtual reality device for training fighters to withstand pain and interrogation, but our heroine makes use of it to virtually experience some of her corporal punishment fantasies.

Can you tell us what you are working on now?

Right now I am kicking around an idea for a post -WW2 era story involving a British war veteran and an American woman.
Are you in a Domestic Discipline relationship? How much of your book comes from real incidences?

Not at all, but I have a vivid imagination. I have been married to the love of my life for over forty years, and she is a very good proof reader.

And are you like your characters at all?

I have very little in common with either character in Eclipse aside from a love of freedom.

Where do you find inspiration for your stories?

My story sources can range from a random photo to some real-life tidbit in a news story. I try to make a female reader think…. “I wonder how it would feel to be in that situation….”, and a male reader to wonder what that alpha male would be thinking as he considered whether to take the heroine in hand, if even just for fun.

When you write, do you ever model any characters after actual people?

There have been times when I have inserted personality traits from actual acquaintances. I also tend to have the heroes be men devoted to providing happiness and fulfillment to the heroine, and I hope that is a personal trait of mine in real life.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Do not take freedom for granted, for getting it back can be painful. And if you are ever offered the chance to use a virtual reality device, do not pass up the opportunity.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Just keep writing! Things will eventually fall into place. And do not fail to explore technology. I am retired with some arthritis. I began using a voice recognition software and increased my production four-fold. I went from thinking a thousand words was a highly productive day to sometimes putting 8-9,000 words into a story on a day of seclusion.

And of course, everyone always wants to know- what do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I love model railroading, fishing and traveling with my wife to see our far-flung adult children and grandchildren. I am also a political junkie.

How about this one- What is your favorite love story? (movie or book)

The Notebook (movie version) Nothing like a story of total devotion to the very end.
