When the gods breathed life into us, they blessed us with an element. Pity they didn’t care to bless us with anything else.
Princess Nymira’s life changed forever when a coup forced her to flee north. In doing so, she found herself mated to Zorren, the formidable Ice Lord. Their instant connection was undeniable but their budding relationship is not without challenges.
Mira must now face the open hostility of a foreign court as she attempts to carve out a niche by Zorren’s side. New enemies work tirelessly to drive a wedge between the newly mated pair and their tentative bond of trust is tested to the limit. Are Mira and Zorren strong enough to withstand the storm, or will her most guarded secret drive them apart…

When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I actually can’t pin it down to a certain point in time. I mean, I have always loved reading and I wrote little bits and pieces but never completed a project. Until I found… I could. It didn’t come easy, I did get stuck, I didn’t think anyone would like it. But in completing that first book I had proven to myself it is possible and that feeling of achievement is addictive. You’ve done one, what’s to stop you doing it again, and again, and again? Nothing. In short one particular quote by Rainer Maria Rilke comes to mind; “If, when you wake up in the morning, you can think of nothing but writing . . . then you are a writer.” And I am continuously thinking about characters and plot points, even when I really should be concentrating on other things.
What is your writing process like?
Slow, painful and absolute chaos. I cannot plot in advance to save my life or even write chronologically. I get an idea and plant it. That idea grows roots before starting to sprout, with limbs either flourishing or withering.
Next comes what I have dubbed the ‘jigsaw’ process. I arrange the separate pieces in front of me and try to slot them together. Some parts are seamless, others need to be crafted and forced to fit and other sections will not fit no matter how much I try and must is discarded. I repeat this process until the puzzle is complete and the imagine revealed. And thus, after a laborious process a book is born. When I look back at the journey I have taken I struggle to remember ever starting with that single, unremarkable idea.
What is your favorite novel?
My books are like my future children, I don’t have favorites.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
I have a couple of authors who are on my automatic ‘to buy’ list.
First, Kresley Cole, the Queen of paranormal romance with her Immortals After Dark Series, if you want a hot romance, mixed with quests, relationship angst, Lycans, vampires, Valkyries and more, oh my. This is the series for you.
Next, Ilona Andrews, I LOVE all her stuff but particularly the Magic Series. An urban fantasy series with a kick-ass, smart mouthed heroine, tons of actions and romance woven into the main plot elements.
Finally, Suzanne Wright with her Phoenix & Mercury pack series.
Would you rather do the spanking or be spanked?
I’m in the ‘be spanked’ category. I usually come across as strong and capable in day to day things but there is something that’s tantalizing and erotic about surrendering that control to someone you trust.
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Ummm, chocolate… apologies if I’m drooling slightly, I am currently taking part in slimming world and snaffled a Gu chocolate pot recently and oh-my-God! May I be struck down if I tell a lie, it was near orgasmic! So little to say, I am a little chocolate obsessed at the moment.
Tea or Coffee?
Tea! I am banned off coffee, I tried a mocha once and it sent me as high as a kite. I was transformed into Tigger on crack, as such I stick with strange and wonderful teas. My favorite is lemon and honey green tea, which I’ve unfortunately nicknamed my wacky backy tea until I realized it probably wasn’t the appropriate for my office job.
In your new release Playing With Fire, some characters are able to manipulate elements, which element would you wish to control?
Tough one. I have always been fascinated with both fire and water. There is something special about curling up round a coal fire on cold miserable winters nights. The mesmerizing hues blending into one as it spits and purrs. Alternatively, I love water, clear and elusive, there are few things I find more soothing than listening to the rain drumming on the roof or the cleansing embrace of a woodland stream.
You know what it’s my world and as the ‘Great Creator’ I declare I can have both.
Sharing the same breath as his lips gently brushed mine, he asked, “Tell me what you want?”
“To stop with the games and fuck me,” I snapped impatiently rolling my shoulders.
White briefly flashed in his eyes. “There is that word again,” he growled low in his chest. “This is not a fuck.” Bending, he claimed my lips for another drugging kiss. Hot and demanding.
“What is it then?” I demanded with a defiant toss of my head. “A claiming.” My body shivered at the primal statement. He plucked my nipple unexpectedly, lightning arced through me and I thrust my chest up. At last. “When your body will acknowledge mine as its master.” Gazing down at me, his eyes sparked at the possessive words, drinking in every dip and curve. I had nowhere to hide.
“Never.” The word didn’t come out as certain as I wanted. It was not a promising response. Large warm hands cupped my breasts, taking their weight as his heat seeped into my flesh. While his thumbs made hypnotic circles, his firm lips focusing on the sensitive area between my neck and shoulder. I tried to remain still and unmoved. A simple answering of urges had become a battle of wills, one I would not lose. Zorren smirked and my core quivered. “As my mate, you won’t be able to help it, Mira, you are helpless, the same as I.”
