Can a web of secrecy and deceit turn to trust?

Andrea Woods, nicknamed “Andy” by Special Agent Adam Reese, is hiding tragic secrets. As beautiful as she is smart, she is also just as secretive. Something has her terrified, and when he questions her, he can see straight through her.

She might be telling the truth. But not the whole truth. And when she begins receiving stalks of French Lavender after murders, the suspicion rapidly points to her.

What is she hiding? It’s imperative that he finds out. Before it’s too late.

This is book five of the Cape Danger series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Publisher’s Note: This action packed romantic mystery contains a theme of power exchange.

Her expression changed as he studied her. Those soft eyes suddenly took on a look of anger as he watched, and her mouth flattened into a straight line.

“Fine,” she said angrily. She turned away but made it only a few feet, before his hands reached around her waist and pulled her back against him.

“If you think I’ll let you stomp away like that without telling me why you’re angry, you’re wrong.” When she didn’t answer but continued to pull away, he tried to turn her to face him. Furious brown eyes glared up at him, and his own narrowed. “I have the distinct impression you aren’t listening to me, young lady.”

She whirled back and stood, facing him. “I don’t want to talk about it. Go.”

“Oh no. I’m not leaving you here alone in this house. You can come with me, or you can call someone to stay with if you like, but you aren’t staying here by yourself.”

She strode toward the front door and grabbed the knob, holding it open as if waiting for him to leave. The expression on her face, however, was just the opposite. It clearly begged him to stay.

Adam studied her carefully and turned, sitting on the sofa.

“You might as well shut the door. You’re letting in cold air.”

Her eyes flashed at him furiously, and with a loud slam, she closed it.

“You’re quite a conflicted little girl, aren’t you?” he said, his head cocked to one side. “If you belonged to me, you’d be over my knee right now, and I’d be paddling your butt.”

Author Bio

Tessa Carr has been writing since she was a child, and entertaining her friends with stories about them. In the back of her mind, however, always lurked stories about romance, mystery, and adventure. Being a Navy brat and moving frequently to new places and meeting new people brought on new stories that hovered in her mind.

The excitement of it never went away. Even today, those stories still hover. She loves writing historical, and for many years has written romantic historicals as Pippa Greathouse, but recently has begun the new genre of erotic contemporary mystery, suspense-thriller that often involves the Highway Patrol, FBI and police.
