Dates: Thursday, 27 August – Sunday, 31 August 2015.
Who: This is open to all writers, published or unpublished, working in any genre
After touring several hotels, Bethany and Bella have found a home for the conference: Marriott Gateway in Arlington, VA (1900 Jefferson Davis Highway), which is 1 mile from Reagan Airport and three easy metro stops (accessible by an underground tunnel) into DC proper.  The hotel provides free 15 minute shuttle rides to and from the airport, but there is also discounted parking available for our group at $15 per day.  Blushing has reserved a block of rooms with a negotiated price for the event, which is $119 per night.  We will give you direct information about booking your room in the next week, when the early bird registration will open.  Please do not book any rooms until we provide you with a registration link or you will not receive the correct rate.
Pre-conference intensive1.
We are thrilled to offer two one day intensive pre-conference workshops, on Thursday August 27th, from 9-5.   One of these will be on using the famous “Save the Cat” system to understand and structure story beats, and the other will a “Word Press for Authors,” an intensive workshop, designed to help authors who are currently using Word Press to really expand their marketing game, to use Word Press to crack the Google marketing algorithm, using widgets, etc.  Both will be taught by outside professionals who specialize in these topics.   Both of these intensive workshops are limited to thirty participants, will cost $125 (in addition to the conference fee and will include box lunch), and we will not be able to offer a discount to Blushing Books’ authors.  However, because Blushing Books’ authors will have the option to register for these during early bird registration, (before registration is open to the public), BB authors will receive priority for attending.
The same room rate will be available for participants arriving Wednesdayevening to attend the next day.
For three months, Blushing Books authors can register for $150 ($175 for non-Blushing authors), which includes Thursday evening welcome reception with light refreshments, the cost of the sessions Friday & Saturday, and a buffet breakfast on Sunday.  After the early-bird period, prices will rise to $175 for Blushing authors and $200 for non-Blushing authors.  If there is space and room available at the time of the event, tickets will be available at the door for $225.  With the exception ofThursday and Sunday, food is otherwise not included in the price for the weekend.
We will also be offering “a la carte” options for those who can only attend one day of the conference, or want to pass on the food options.  A one day pass for $60.00 (you will be able to pick either Friday or Saturday) or a two day conference pass with no food option for $110.
Family, Friends & Fans Package
Tickets will be available to join authorson Thursday evening for the welcome reception, and to eat breakfast on Sunday morning at a cost of $75 for both.  With the exception of Thursdayand Sunday, food is otherwise not included in the price for the weekend.
We will also be offering “a la carte” options for those who can only attend one of these events.  Individual event tickets will be $40.00.
Tired of conferences that leave you no time for sightseeing or networking, unless you skip a workshop?  We hear you!   We are offering three sessions per day, two in the morning and one after lunch, with the last workshop ending at 2:30.  This will give you plenty of time to visit one of the Smithsonian museums (which do not close until 7:30 at this time of the year), schedule one on one time with one of the Blushing / Lazy Day editors, or have an intensive “brain storm” session with another author.   Our sessions are being planned with care.  Our goal is that everyone will be crying in the hall, because it will be so hard to pick… you will want to attend all of them.   All of our sessions will be held in spacious rooms, set up school room style, with a comfortable table for your lap top or note taking.
Sessions will start at 9:00 am both Friday and Saturday, with one hour for lunch, then return for the afternoon sessions which end at 2:30 pm.  This will enable everyone to have time to mingle, network or sightsee, and to spend time with your friends, family, or fans that come along.
Host a Table
On Sunday during breakfast, authors will have the option to host a table seating up to ten people.  There are 20 slots available for authors to put some swag or books in the centre of the table, and eat with your friends, family or fans.  There will be other tables available to sit down and eat if you don’t wish to host a table or have a flight to catch.    There will be an application process for hostessing a table, and we cannot guarantee a table to all who apply.  There will be no charge for hostessing (other than the charge that everyone pays for the meal) but you must provide your own promotional materials.
Bella Bryce is the conference organiser, please email her directly at Conference@blushingbooks.com with all questions, comments or concerns.
